Torrey N. Foster
Torrey N. Foster died October 14, 2024. After Yale, Torrey served two years on a US Navy destroyer and then entered Washington University Law School where he served on the law review and was elected to the scholastic honorary society, Order of the Coif. He began his law career with a St. Louis law firm, but moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1968, as associate general counsel for Sherwin-Williams Co. Four years later he was transferred to its international division to manage the company’s Brazilian subsidiary in Sao Paulo. Two years later, he was back in Cleveland as group executive managing the company’s international division. His international experience resulted in his managing international divisions of a company in Norway and, later, one in Naples, Florida. He was active in his community with leadership roles in local chapters of the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Conservancy of Southwest Florida, the local Yale Club, and several others. He is survived by his wife, Anne Russell.
