Robert H. Markert

Robert H. (Bob) Markert died on August 24, 2024 after a long bout with cancer. After getting his degree at Yale in industrial engineering, Bob spent two years in the US Army Signal Corps. After his discharge, Bob began his 35-year career in telecommunication management with New England Telephone Co. and NYNEX, a spinoff from AT&T. Bob was active in the community, serving as a Boy Scout master, hockey coach, member of his Congregational church choir, and volunteer at election polls. Following his retirement in 1991, Bob spent his time playing golf, sailing, fishing, caning chairs, and growing hybrid tea roses. He is survived by his wife of 65 years.
