John A. Nord
John A. (Jack) Nord died on January 20, 2025, following a fall he suffered in November in which he broke his pelvis and struggled unsuccessfully to regain his health. Jack joined our class after leaving Yale to serve in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He spent most of his life in his home town of Jamestown, New York, working in his family’s furniture business. He became president of the company in 1973 following his father’s death and held that position until the business was sold in 1992. Jack was a ham radio operator with the highest level of amateur radio license and helped qualify aspiring hams. In his spare time, he built other electronic devices and repaired others for family and friends. He was an active member of his community, holding many roles of leadership in its government and not-for-profit organizations.
