James A. (Jim) Harris
James A. (Jim) Harris died in his sleep on June 27, 2025, just two days after turning 91. While at Yale, Jim spent his junior year abroad at the University of Florence, Italy, a program of Smith College. There he learned to love all things Italian, the joy of travel, and honing his skills as a photographer. After graduation followed by marriage and service in the Navy near Chicago, Jim and his wife moved to New York City to begin his career as a buyer for J.C. Penney traveling extensively to sources of its wares including Japan and Hong Kong. He later moved to Framingham, Massachusetts, to take a job as a sporting goods buyer for a New England based department store. After a few years of this, he left to partner with a friend to form Felton-Harris Associates representing companies selling sporting goods to stores throughout New England. This business venture lasted over three decades. When not working, Jim and his wife Susan traveled all over the world. He was an avid sports fan and a collector of knives, watches, flashlights, and audiophile equipment.
