Harte C. Crow
Dr. Harte C. Crow died in Etna, New Hampshire, on March 21, 2026, after a sudden illness. Harte received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania during which time he met his wife Ann Henry, sister of our classmate Chuck Henry, whom he married in 1959. She survives. Harte continued his medical training at Case Western Reserve and The Cleveland Clinic followed by a radiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He then served in Vietnam, an experience which made him an outspoken opponent of the war. In 1971, he and Ann moved to Etna so he could take positions as a staff radiologist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and faculty member at Dartmouth Medical School. He established the medical center’s ultrasound and CT programs and co-authored three books on ultrasound. Harte had a discerning eye for art and design, building a significant art collection which included works by Audubon, Currier and Ives, and several other noted artists. He and Ann donated much of this collection to the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, New Hampshire. He also assembled a world class collection of broken-down antique tractors, built and maintained trails in the area, and later donated land to the Upper Valley Land Trust.
