Clinton Peck Hayne
Clinton Peck Hayne died in his sleep on June 12, 2024. At Yale, Peck was a golden glove boxer, a diver on its #1-ranked swim team, and a member of the NROTC. He served in the Navy as a pilot for four years in Oahu, Hawaii, and Okinawa, followed by another four years as a Naval Reserves pilot in New Orleans. While in Hawaii, Peck met his wife, Pam Manhart, who survives. After the Navy, Peck became a stockbroker in New Orleans, working in that capacity for 44 years with several firms including Viguerie Hayne & Chaffe which later merged with Howard Weil and then Legg Mason. His published obituary states, “He lived by his family motto Tenax Propositi—firmness of purpose, stubbornness some might say. Whether heli-skiing in Canada, flyfishing for tarpon in the Florida Keys, bird hunting in Louisiana and Mississippi, boxing in his 50s, prison ministry in Angola, or anything else, Peck was all in.”
