Lawrence K. (Larry) Schwartz

Larry Schwartz died on February 28, 2026, under hospice care in his home. With his engineering degree from Yale, Larry began his career working at New Haven Trap Rock Co. as an assistant engineer. He moved from that role to work at City Iron Works in Wethersfield, Connecticut, as a structural designer and then became a partner in Shepard Steel Company in West Hartford until his retirement. He and his wife Merle spent winters in retirement in Palm Desert, California. He was an outstanding athlete from high school days and continued playing golf, tennis, and racquetball well into his 80s. He had served on the board of Temple Sinai in Newington, Connecticut, and was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford.
