Eric B. Moore
Eric B. Moore of Matthews, North Carolina, died on June 12, 2024. He was an outstanding tennis player becoming #1 on Yale’s team our senior year. Upon graduation he was accepted to Columbia University’s Medical School, but before enrolling he met Molly, his wife to be for 64 years. They married in November, 1957. A month later he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge, Eric and Molly moved to fulfill their dream of owning a farm by pooling their limited funds and buying 80 acres in Canaan, New Hampshire, where they raised their three daughters. Eric went on to obtain graduate degrees and spent his career as an educator or headmaster of prep schools up and down the east coast. He finished this career owning and managing a business similar to Princeton Review. He continued to play competitive tennis for 50 years until he suffered a shoulder problem. His other passion was performing as a classically trained tenor singing with Molly in several choral groups. After retirement, they moved to Brevard, North Carolina, where they hiked, camped, and attended Brevard Music School concerts. He also served as an elder at his local Presbyterian church. Their final years were spent in a retirement community in Matthews.
